(Eagle News) — New York City remains on an air quality health advisory alert on Wednesday with the worst air quality the city has experienced in decades as haze and smoke from Canadian wildfires continue to spread throughout the state.
A layer of smoke has blanketed the five boroughs at levels health officials deem hazardous not only for those at higher risk due to existing health issues but also for the general public.
All New Yorkers are advised to limit outdoor activity and stay inside when possible. Those with underlying respiratory issues should take extra caution and remain indoors or wear a mask if going outside.
The alert remains in effect until Friday 12:00 a.m.
