HONOLULU (Eagle News) – In response to the economic hardships and unemployment situation faced by Filipino-American workers due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the Philippine Consulate General in Honolulu, together with other business stakeholders, launched Trabaho HI, an online Facebook Page which seeks to connect employers and Fil-Am job seekers.

Members of the Filipino community are encouraged to use the Trabaho HI Facebook Page whenever they need the services of an accountant, babysitter, caregiver, hairdresser, administrative assistant, plumber, driver, and other jobs.  The goal is to help displaced Filipino-American workers, who either have been furloughed or have lost their jobs due to the pandemic, get a source of income as the economy transitions to the “new normal.”

Companies and individuals who need employees, part-time workers, one-time, or project-based service providers are encouraged to sign-up at the Facebook Page of Trabaho HI  at https://www.facebook.com/TrabahoHI/ and fill out the Work Request Form available at https://bit.ly/3cLY9Jf.

They can also email  trabaho.hi@gmail.com if they have job requests or are looking for a job.  Trabaho HI will share the work listings it received in its Facebook Page and connect employers with potential applicants.  The page also features links to websites and articles about available resources and training materials that workers and business owners can utilize.

Members of the Filipino community are likewise encouraged to fill-out the Information Needs Survey available at https://bit.ly/36f8PxC.  The data collected from the survey will help the Consulate and its partners in developing useful webinars and other programs that will benefit the Filipino-American community in Hawaii.

These initiatives were born out from consultations made by the Consulate with the following economic stakeholders: the Filipino Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii, Filipino Junior Chamber, Filipino Young Leaders Program, Hawaii-Philippines Business Economic Council, and Pusong Filipinx.

Filipino community organizations and other volunteers who are interested to take an active part in promoting  Trabaho HI and other economic programs of the Consulate can get in touch with the Consulate’s Economic Section (email: andrea.caymo@dfa.gov.ph).
