
MANILA, Philippines (Eagle News) — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) confirmed the execution of a Filipina Overseas Filipino Worker in Kuwait, at 3:20 p.m. on Wednesday, January 25.
OFW Jakatia Pawa from Zamboanga City, a Filipina household worker in Kuwait was sentenced to death for allegedly stabbing her employer’s 22-year-old daughter while asleep in May 2007.
Pawa, however, repeatedly insisted on her innocence and pleaded “not guilty,” with the the Court of Cassation previously in Kuwait.
Col. Angaris “Gary” Pawa, the victim’s brother appealed to President Duterte to do everything he can to save her sister from the death row.
In his live radio interview, Gary said it was his sister Jakatia Pawa who even called him up about her execution, through a phone call from her detention cell.
“Tumawag kapatid ko kanina around 5 o’clock in the morning. Kasi nga nabigla nga ako kanina sa pagtawag niya kasi umiiyak. Sabi niya ‘Kuya, bibitayin na kami’,” he said.
Jakatia during the phone call also related to Gary her last wish before she dies, “Magpapaalam ako. Kuya, huwag mong pabayaan dalawang anak ko, Yun lang mahihingi ko sa iyo.”
Aside from Jakatia, there were also two other women who have been executed today, January 25, through hanging. (report from Jodi Bustos, Eagle Online Media Service)
